Express Entry PNP Draw October 13, 2026: 752 Invitations Issued as CRS Jumps to 772

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 752 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the latest Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Draw #448 required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 772 points, representing a substantial 47-point increase from the previous PNP draw.

This was the first Provincial Nominee draw of October, the largest since June 22, 2026, and the second-largest PNP draw of 2026. Although invitation numbers continued to increase, the sharply higher CRS cutoff indicates that competition among provincially nominated candidates remains unpredictable.

With 135,967 Express Entry invitations issued across all categories in 2026, the latest selection also highlights the federal government’s continued use of provincial nominations alongside larger Canadian Experience Class and French-language proficiency draws.

October 13 PNP Draw Analysis: More Invitations, Higher Competition

The October 13 round invited 752 provincial nominees at CRS 772, compared with 733 invitations at CRS 725 on September 28. This represents an increase of 19 invitations alongside a much more significant increase of 47 CRS points.

Importantly, PNP invitation sizes have now increased across five consecutive rounds, from 442 invitations on August 17 to 752 on October 13. This is approximately a 70% expansion in invitation volume over less than two months.

The latest selection also exceeded the average invitation size of the previous eight PNP rounds. Those draws recorded an average CRS cutoff of approximately 739, with scores ranging from 697 to 772 and invitation sizes between 442 and 752.

The latest CRS of 772 is the highest among those eight draws, despite the largest invitation volume in that period. Within the broader 12-month comparison, the December 8, 2025 draw remains the largest at 1,123 invitations, followed by 955 invitations on June 22, 2026. The October 13 round therefore represents a meaningful recovery in PNP invitation volume, but not a return to the largest selection levels.

The important distinction is that larger PNP draws do not necessarily produce lower CRS cutoffs. The cutoff depends on the ranking and composition of eligible nominated candidates at the time of selection, not simply the number of invitations issued.

What the 90-Day Tie-Breaking Date Reveals About the Express Entry Pool

The October 13 draw applied a tie-breaking timestamp of July 15, 2026, at 13:57:33 UTC, exactly 90 calendar days before the draw date. Under Express Entry’s tie-breaking procedure, candidates with exactly 772 CRS points needed to have submitted their profiles before the specified timestamp to receive an invitation. Candidates above the minimum CRS threshold were not subject to that same timestamp restriction.

This cutoff is particularly interesting compared with the previous two PNP rounds. The September 28 draw had an 11-day-old tie-breaking date, while the September 14 draw used a 16-day-old timestamp.

The current 90-day interval indicates that profile submission timing was relevant at the 772-point threshold. It also leaves open the possibility that candidates with the same score but later profile submission dates remain in the pool.

However, the timestamp does not reveal how many candidates at 772 points remain uninvited. It cannot, on its own, establish whether the next PNP cutoff will remain high or decline. The Express Entry snapshot also identifies an average profile age of approximately 11 months. This is distinct from the 90-day tie-breaking interval and should not be interpreted as the waiting period for all provincial nominees.

Because Express Entry profiles generally remain valid for 12 months, profile expiry and replacement are important considerations. A newly submitted replacement profile normally receives a new submission timestamp, which may matter when a future tie-breaking rule applies.

Provincial Nominee Draws Account for One-Third of All 2026 Selections

Provincial Nominee draws have become one of the most frequently used Express Entry selection streams in 2026. As of October 13, IRCC has conducted 20 PNP draws, issuing 10,022 invitations. This represents 33.33% of all 60 Express Entry draws conducted this year, but only 7.37% of total invitations.

The average 2026 PNP draw has issued approximately 501 invitations, making the October 13 selection roughly 50% larger than the annual PNP average. By comparison, Canadian Experience Class draws account for 55,250 invitations, or 40.63%, while French-language proficiency selections account for 50,500 invitations, or 37.14%. Together, those two streams represent approximately 77.78% of all Express Entry invitations issued in 2026.

This contrast reflects two different selection patterns. PNP rounds have occurred frequently but usually involve smaller invitation volumes, while Canadian Experience Class and French-language draws have delivered substantially larger numbers of ITAs.

PNP candidates also receive 600 additional CRS points after accepting an eligible Express Entry-linked provincial nomination. Consequently, PNP cutoffs should not be directly compared with Canadian Experience Class or French-language selection thresholds.

For candidates considering provincial nomination, the provincial eligibility requirements and likelihood of obtaining a nomination are more useful indicators than the federal PNP CRS cutoff alone.

How to Improve Your CRS Score Beyond 772 in an Express Entry PNP Draw

Although Arjun, Chioma, and Leila have all achieved 772 CRS points through provincial nominations, their profiles reveal different opportunities to strengthen their Express Entry scores. Improving education, language proficiency, Canadian work experience, and skills transferability can increase their competitiveness, particularly if future draw cutoffs rise.

1. Improve Educational Qualifications: Gain Up to 120 More CRS Points

Education offers significant opportunities for improvement, especially for applicants with only secondary schooling or a one-year postsecondary qualification. Arjun currently receives 90 education points, with a maximum of 150, leaving an opportunity to gain 60 additional points by obtaining higher recognized qualifications. His existing welding diploma could be supplemented with further postsecondary studies, although reaching the full education maximum would require a qualification at the highest level of the CRS education scale.

Chioma has the greatest potential improvement through education. Her secondary school diploma currently contributes 30 points, compared with the maximum of 150 points available to a single applicant. By completing recognized postsecondary education and eventually progressing to an advanced degree, she could theoretically gain up to 120 additional points in this category.

For Leila, her current education score of 84 points could increase to the maximum of 140 points for a principal applicant with an accompanying spouse, representing 56 additional points. Further education could also improve the skills transferability combinations available to her, particularly when paired with stronger language results.

2. Strengthen English Language Proficiency: Gain Up to 109 More CRS Points

Language proficiency is another major opportunity for all three applicants, particularly because their speaking, listening, reading, and writing scores vary considerably.

Arjun currently earns 27 language points out of a maximum of 136, meaning he could potentially gain 109 additional CRS points through higher PTE Core results. His speaking and listening each have room for 28 additional points, reading could improve by 25 points, and writing by 28 points. Improving all four abilities would also help him unlock skills transferability points connected to his foreign work experience and recognized education.

Chioma currently receives 63 language points out of a maximum of 136, leaving 73 possible additional points. Her reading performance is already particularly strong, with only 3 more points available. However, her speaking could improve by 25 points, listening by 17 points, and writing by 28 points. Focusing on writing and speaking in a future IELTS General Training examination could therefore be especially beneficial.

For Leila, her language score of 68 points could rise to the accompanying-spouse applicant maximum of 128, creating an opportunity for 60 additional points. Her reading already earns the maximum 32 points, but speaking could improve by 24 points, listening by 10 points, and writing by 26 points. Her husband, Omid, could also strengthen his PTE Core results, potentially increasing his spousal language contribution from 8 to 20 points, a further 12-point improvement.

3. Increase Canadian Work Experience and Unlock Up to 100 Skills Transferability Points

Canadian work experience can substantially improve CRS scores while creating additional opportunities through skills transferability.

Arjun currently has no Canadian work experience, leaving him with a theoretical opportunity to gain up to 80 points in this category. By relocating to Canada with appropriate work authorization and accumulating eligible skilled employment, he could gradually improve his Canadian experience score. Chioma already earns 40 points for her first year of Canadian employment, but additional qualifying experience could raise her score toward the 80-point maximum, representing 40 more points. Leila could potentially gain up to 70 points through eligible Canadian work experience as an applicant with an accompanying spouse, although her current visitor status does not authorize her to work.

Beyond direct Canadian work experience points, all three applicants currently have room to gain up to 100 skills transferability points. These points are awarded through qualifying combinations of education with language proficiency, education with Canadian work experience, foreign skilled work experience with language proficiency, and foreign skilled work experience with Canadian work experience. For eligible skilled tradespeople, a Canadian certificate of qualification combined with sufficient language proficiency may provide another route to transferability points.

For Arjun and Leila, their established foreign skilled trade experience could become especially valuable if they achieve stronger results across all four language abilities. Chioma could unlock additional combinations by obtaining recognized postsecondary education or eligible foreign skilled work experience. However, skills transferability is capped at 100 CRS points overall, regardless of the number of qualifying combinations.

Omid’s qualifications also provide another improvement opportunity for Leila’s application. His current spousal contribution of 15 points could theoretically increase to the 40-point spousal maximum, providing the couple with up to 25 additional points through stronger language proficiency, higher recognized education, and additional Canadian work experience.
