  • Online/e-commerce businesses (unless the service/product is new to the Canadian marketplace and the warehouse is located in Saskatchewan)

  • Professional services or self-employed business operators requiring licensing or accreditation, unless the license or accreditation was issued after your study

Investment requirements

  • Investment is financed directly from the personal net worth and/or from a recognized Canadian financial institution, Venture Capital or Angel Investment firm
  • Ineligible investment includes but is not limited to gifts from partners or third parties, donations, loans or grants from ineligible financial institutions

Business requirements

  • Submit the Business Establishment Plan after receiving the Invitation to Apply
  • Have a 1/3 ownership, may partner with another applicant
  • Establish or purchase a business as agreed in Business Performance Agreement
  • Directly involved in the day-to-day management of the business on a valid work permit
  • Dmonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the Business Establishment Plan
  • Demonstrate the main purpose of business operation is generating profits by selling products or providing services instead of passive investment
  • Business Performance Agreement cannot be changed or modified while implementing the business plan
  • Operate the business for at least 12 months before requesting nomination
  • Reside within 50 km of the business
  • Meet minimum revenue requirements after 1 year of operation

  • Assessed by SINP-approved financial verification provider (KPMG or MNP Ltd.) after being invited

Investment requirements

  • Depend on the investment region:
    ○ $ 300,000 CAD if located in Regina or Saskatoon
    ○ $ 200,000 CAD if located elsewhere in Saskatchewan
  • Investment eligibility is assessed based on how essential to establish and operate a new business, or to purchase, improve and operate an existing business
  • Unless essential, real estate will not be considered an investment; if eligible, the eligible investment is more than 50% percent of the total minimum required investment
  • If purchasing an existing business, including business assets, equity and inventory
  • For the establishment of a new business, only consider a maximum of 3 times the average monthly Cost of Goods Sold over a 6 months period
  • For start-up costs (marketing, insurance, or supplies) and operation expenses (rent, wages, and utilities), only consider a maximum of 6 months if establishing a new business or 3 months if purchasing an existing business
  • Include cash and receivables which are considered reasonable and based on industry standards, up to a maximum of 15% of the total required eligible investment
  • Wages or salaries paid to the applicant or family members are not considered eligible expenses

Business requirements

  • Submit the Business Establishment Plan after receiving the Invitation to Apply
  • Have a 1/3 ownership, unless the total investment is greater than $1,000,000 CAD, may partner with another applicant
  • Establish or purchase a business as agreed in Business Performance Agreement
  • Create 2 permanent full-time positions or equivalent for Canadian or Permanent Resident (not including family members) if establishing a new business in Saskatoon or Regina
  • Directly involved in the day-to-day management of the business on a valid work permit
  • Dmonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the Business Establishment Plan
  • Demonstrate the main purpose of business operation is generating profits by selling products or providing services instead of passive investment
  • Application to change Business Performance Agreement must be completed after a meeting with the province within 90 days after arrival and is not guaranteed to be approved. Submission of mid-term Business Establishment Activity Report also is required. No change is accepted if it lowers EOI points.
  • Operate the business for at least 6 months before requesting nomination

    ○ Other Agricultural Products (Herbs / Spices, Apiculture, Canaryseed, Wild Rice, Hemp, other crops,...)
    ○ Forage, fruit, vegetables, potatoes
    ○ Livestock/poultry and related products
